Introduction

Nurture for today. Learning for tomorrow. character for eternity.

Because we take a holistic approach to education, we nurture character development and spirituality. In our special values education program we highlight the importance of decision making, and focus on positive values. Through fostering leadership skills and respect for others, students develop into well rounded and responsible citizens. Lively weekly chapel services, class devotionals and scripture classes focus on Christian values and aim to develop self-worth and social responsibility.

At Wahroonga Adventist School we provide a safe and happy environment for your child to learn within a supportive community. Our enthusiastic, highly professional teaching team focus on nurturing the strengths of our students. We provide our older students with peer support training and encourage them to participate in mentoring their younger schoolmates. We offer an excellent early learning program catering for 4 year olds, as well as the convenience of stimulating and secure after school care facilities. Our teachers work together with parents to bring continutity between school and home, and are committed to keeping you informed and listening to your concerns.

Wahroonga Adventist School offers the following programs to ensure our students receive emotional support when they need it: - Pastoral care program / school chaplains - Access to Christian counselling - Peer support programs. Wahroonga Adventist school operates Peer Support training and encourages the older grades to mentor the younger classes.

Our facilities include generously sized classrooms and specialist learning areas, surrounded by spacious play areas and attractive grounds that provide a secure environment for our students. We have a well-stocked library and a large computer lab. We also enjoy a beneficial relationship with the Sydney Adventist Hospital which gives our students access to the swimming pool and tennis courts.

Academic

We maintain small class sizes so that teachers can get to know the individual needs of each child. By streaming classes for Maths, Spelling and Reading our advanced students are able to accelerate, while at the same time we can provide learning support where it is needed. Our students demonstrate a high level of competence in basic skills, indicated by standardised test results and awards in academic competitions.

LOTE (Languages Other Than English) is part of the curriculum; at Wahroonga we focus on French.

Our school gives families access to a pre-kindy program that has been developed to help your child experience an easy transition to school life. Because the programs are run on the school grounds your child will become familiar with the daily surroundings, people, philosophy and routines of school. Our pre-kindy teachers are fully qualified and teach young children through fun games, songs and craft activities. With flexible attendance, you can choose how often your child attends, making your start at Wahroonga Adventist School smooth and worry free.
